Work Hours Calculator – Calculate daily work hours and earnings

The work hours calculator calculates how many hours you have worked in a day and optionally your daily earnings. Enter your start and end times and breaks, and you'll get an accurate calculation.

Why calculate work hours?

Calculating work hours

The time worked is calculated simply:

Time worked = End time – Start time – Breaks

If you work a night shift (for example, 10:00 PM–6:00 AM), activate the "Night shift" setting. This way, the calculator handles shifts that go past midnight correctly.

Under the US Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):

Overtime

In the US, regular working time is up to 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. For hours exceeding this, overtime compensation must be paid:

  • First 2 overtime hours: +50% to wage
  • Thereafter: +100% to wage
